The
cyclorama

The cyclorama is a large plastic screen located at the rear of the stage. It is put up before a performance and must be perfectly stretched with pins attached on each side, as well as weighted down with a metal tube inserted in the lower part. It helps cast light with spotlights located behind the screen or play video clips. When there is no cyclorama, a plain curtain or a painted canvas can be put up at the rear of the stage.

This is called a backstage curtain and is usually used to cover the back of the stage or to place a set.

The rear of the stage, the legs and the borders form a frame around the stage to create the black box. These curtains are made from an opaque light-absorbing fabric, and they help mask backstage, spotlights, poles, and other technical equipment.
