CCN

Malandain Ballet Biarritz is one of the 19 Centres Choréographiques Nationaux (CNN, National Choreography Centers) in France. Created in 1984 by the Ministry of Culture, CNNs develop the creation process of the artist who direct it, as well as the broadcasting of the subsequent work. In addition, CNNs share work tools with guest artists. They develop a policy on choreography culture and artistic education transmission, and they represent a place of resource for the dancing community on their territory.
The other CNNs are in Aix-en-Provence, Angers, Belfort, Caen, Créteil, Grenoble, La Rochelle, Le Havre, Marseille, Montpellier, Mulhouse, Nancy, Nantes, Orléans, Rennes, Rillieux-la-Pape, Roubaix, and Tours.

The CNN of Biarritz has the specificity of being a Ballet with 22 permanent choreography artists coming from Europe, America, Asia… and whose repertoire is composed of the work of their director, Thierry Malandain, neoclassicist choreographer.
