The geographical location of CCN-Malandain Ballet Biarritz is special as it is located in Basque country, a territory astride France and Spain.
This region has a thousand-year-old identity and culture living through the Basque language. We all know of Voltaire's description of this people: "who reside, or rather skip about the foot of the Pyrenees, and who are called Vasques or Vascons ".

This commitment to dancing enabled a very rich choreographic repertoire to be preserved, but which can also evolve. Since its creation in 1998, CCN-Malandain Ballet Biarritz supports Basque dance in various ways: organization of shows and meet-and-greets for the audience with the artists, support of the creation of new shows, promotion of the artists' traveling across the border, loan of equipment and dance studios...
